Claire's Birth Story

Before the story begins, there are a few things I need to say: Everyone should write down what is happening while it's happening when in labor. That's what I did and I am so thankful because I already feel like I've forgotten it! I have NEVER in my LIFE been more proud of myself and Andrew than I was after giving birth. It was a total team effort, and I'm so thankful that he was there with me.

Now, if you're ready to read a novelette on a blog, enjoy our birth story. :)

At 39 weeks, we went in for an elective induction. We saw Dr. Hinton the day before (Wednesday) and I asked what her thoughts were on inducing on Claire's due date, Thanksgiving Day, if she wasn't here by then. She said something along the lines of "we might not be able to do it then, so why wait that long?" She then told us that we could be induced Friday, Monday or Tuesday because we had made it to 39 weeks, and we jumped on that. Dr. Hinton was on call for Friday, so we said, "absolutely for Friday!" I asked many a time if she thought this was a good idea, if she thought I was forcing myself to have a c-section and if she thought I should just wait. She told me that she thought my cervix was good to go, that the baby is just fine from a health stand point and that she would do this with her own children. To help move things along, she went ahead and stripped my membranes to see if that helped start labor. I did have a few contractions. After that appointment we called our families and did things around the house to get ready for baby girl who was really coming very soon!

On Thursday, exactly 39 weeks, I slept in as much as I could. I woke up with cramps, nausea, and needing to use the restroom all night. Mix that with a racing mind and you don't get the best night of sleep. I got up and threw on some clothes so that I could have breakfast at briar rose with Leslie and AJ. We had a divine cinnamon roll with some decaf coffee and just a good talk. When I got home, Brody and I went for a quick last walk just the 2 of us while I talked to my sister. At lunch, Jamie and Millie came over. Millie is miss personality and I love to watch her. Jamie brought me cookies and we just sat and talked and Jamie cried (of course) because she's so excited about baby Claire! Before she left she prayed for us, and that means the world to me. When they left I got the phone call about us needing to check in that afternoon at 4:30. I finished a load of laundry, took out the trash, ran the dishwasher and tried to rest. Andrew got home around 2:15. He blew off the drive way where leaves were collecting. We both showered at the house and finished getting everything ready for our hospital stay. I took my final weekly picture and a couple of bare belly pics to remember. Around 4:00, we took Brody to his favorite place, the Flangan's. We were happy to know that he will be having tons of fun while we were working on meeting his sister. Jeremy also prayed for us, and then we made our way to the hospital!

We got to the hospital and checked in at the front desk. I had to correct my SSN, but everything was pretty smooth. We went to our room, room 26, and Nurse Donna checked me (still a 2), asked some questions and went over consent forms. *note: if you have a living will, bring a copy!* She was not super thrilled that we were having an elective induction and wasn't afraid to show that on her face. Nurse Vanessa came in and hooked up the IV. That hurt! I've had a lot of shots, but I guess the weird spot where she put it into my arm just made it painful. She also had to ask a lot of questions and what not. By the time she was done, we were hearing Claire's heartbeat, I had my first dose of Cytotec to help soften my cervix, had the IV fluids and my blood pressure was constantly being monitored. I was even showing contractions already!

Around 6:30 Blake and Leslie brought us pizza and then stayed and hung around for a little while. I'm so glad they did because contractions were getting stronger and they were keeping my mind off of them. They started coming every 3-5 minutes and I would say the pain was about a 4/5. It just felt like a really bad cramp. They left around 9, and I got up to use the restroom and wash my face. The contractions kind of slowed down after that which discouraged me a little, but the new nightshift nurse, Page, assured me that it's all normal! Andrew and I got ready for bed, he made up his special bed, and I took some ambien around 10:00 (and that did not help me sleep).

Page, the nurse, came in around 12:00am to do a cervical exam. She said I was still a 2 but she could feel a little change. I was discouraged, but she said it's totally normal. I took the next dose of Cytotec and she helped me get cozy in the bed by laying on my side. Miss Claire decided that right when mama needed some rest she would stay away from the monitors, so the nurses kept having to come in to readjust to keep a good monitor on her. I think from 12.30-4:30 I got some sleep...I don't really know how much! The contractions were getting stronger again and I just kept feeling like I needed to pee, and peeing was quite the experience because I had to unplug all the monitors and wheel in my IV.

Around 6:00am on Friday, Page checked my cervix and found that I was a 3 (almost a 4). She was excited that the pills worked and was ready to start me on Pitocin. We got that hooked up through the IV and Dr. Hinton came in to talk to us. So happy that she was there!!! We met our new nurse Jodi. They told us that they would keep checking me and and monitoring things.

This next part is where things started getting busy. I was progressing and seeing nurses a lot. We had several visitors. The 12 hours of labor FLEW by, so I just wrote things down as a "list".
- Doug and Cherri arrived around 8:45
- Epidural at 9:00. **I wasn't really ready for the epidural when I got it. My pain level was not bad at.all. The nurse explained to me that the anesthesiologist was making his rounds to give epidurals that morning before going to the surgeries. She thought it would be best for me to go ahead and get it while he was available instead of waiting until I was in a ton of pain, and then have to wait on the doc for an hour or more. So, I went ahead and got it and it.hurt. You aren't supposed to move when they poke you, but I couldn't help but flinch. I wish I had waited.**
- Mom and dad arrive around 9:30

- Water broken by Doc at 12:15. Still a 4, and 70%.
- At a 6 and 90% by 1:15 and she was down to a -1 station.
- At 8 and 100% by 2:15.

- At a 10 with an "anterior lip" (one part of my cervix was still too thick) by 4:40. She was at 0 station. Jodi wanted me to wait another 20-30 minutes and get checked again.
- Around 6:00 I called the nurses station and told them I was feeling a lot of pressure. A different nurse checked me because Jodi was with another patient, and we were ready! Claire was at a +2!
- Satrted pushing around 6:00 with a different nurse and Jodi came in around 6:15/6:20

- Pushed on (almost) every contraction for 2 hours and 15 minutes. Andrew averaged it to be around 250 pushes! My belly was so round that the monitor wouldn't stay on to monitor contractions, so they would ask me when I could feel one coming and then told me to take a deep breath and push for 10 seconds. I would lay back for just enough time to take a deep breath and then push again. Andrew was so helpful while I was pushing. He either helped push my back, he held a towel behind Jodi and pulled me up or pushed my leg back. I COULD NOT have done it without his help. For real.
- Claire's head was so big that first she couldn't pass under my pelvic bone and then she couldn't get past 2 side pelvic bones. It took a LOT of stretching from Jodi and Dr. Hinton and a LOT of pushing from mama (and daddy who helped tremendously by pushing on my back or pulling me with a towel)!
- Around 8:00, Dr. Hinton decided that she would like to try using the vacuum, forceps or a c-section. Baby girl just wouldn't get past those bones. I agreed to try the vacuum. While she was prepping that, I decided to push some more just to try. I asked if I could keep pushing and I got the go ahead. I had a nurse at each leg pushing pushing back, Andrew helping with my back, a nurse holding to towel and helping to pull me, and wouldn't you know it...she decided to come out without the vacuum!!!! We were all so shocked and SO HAPPY!!!!! She was born at 8:12 pm.
- She came straight to my chest and Andrew cut the cord. Then she went to get wiped off. Andrew went with her, though he wanted to stay with me. The nursery nurses were precious talking about her and Andrew was the sweetest! She weighed 8 pounds and 3 ounces and was 20 inches long (although that was a hard stat to check because sister's cone head is significant). The APGAR scores were 8 and 9. While that was happening, I delivered the placenta (which felt so good, such a big final pressure release), got stitched in 3 places, 2 inside and an episiotomy outside. Andrew finally got to hold her and brought her by me.

(I get teary every time I look at this. It was Andrew's first time to touch his baby girl.)

We talked to the nurses and doctors for a while. We asked them to tell friends and family who were waiting outside the whole time that she was here and healthy, but we wanted to tell them her stats. We took our first family picture and then I tried to feed her. She maybe sucked a couple of times and then was disinterested. After I tried, our families came in and we ooo'd and aww'd over her. It was Meme, Poppi, Lolly, Papa, Lyndsy and Matt. After they looked for a while, they went to get some dinner (it was 9:30) and the nursery took the baby. Nurse Jessica (who took Jodi's place, but was there during most of the delivery) came to help me out of the bed and to the bathroom to get cleaned up. That was a mess, but Jessica was great! Our parents came back with dinner for us (mind you, I hadn't had anything to eat since midnight)! We had sushi! The friends came back by after that. They stayed long enough to hear her first cry and then went to eat. They had to come back by and meet her! It was the Duffields, Carter's, and Snelson's. Everyone left before midnight. I tried to nurse Claire again who still wasn't all that interested, and then she went to spend the night on the nursery. I still didn't get much sleep because I was so excited, but it was nice to rest and recover without having to worry about being up with her. They brought her in to me to try and nurse a couple of times and I do think she latched a little. I didn't get much help from anyone during this time which was frustrating.

Recovery:

We spent Saturday and Sunday morning in the hospital. We had visitors and I got some rest. Mom helped me with my first shower and it was nice to be in the hospital bed next to the restroom those first few days. I tried my hardest to get up and walk around. It's tough when you're sore and walking with an ice pack in your underwear, but I was told it can help with the recovery process. I stayed current on taking Ibprofen and Percocet to manage the pain. They gave me a daily vitamin and stool softener as well.

Every time I used the bathroom I would have to change my "dressing". I had amazing recovery underwear that would hold a ginormous diaper sized pad. This pad would hold tucks pads. After I used the bathroom, I would clean with a squirt bottle and wipe with a damp cloth. I sprayed with dermoplast medicated spray, applied the pad and pulled up the underwear. I wore only nursing gowns or nursing tops with large pants. I write this because it's stuff some don't tell you! Thankfully, I had friends warn me in advance about all of this so I felt (mentally) prepared.

39 Weeks

- Brody got groomed! PTL!
- All kid's gifts in the family have been purchased.
- I painted my OWN TOES!!!! I didn't want to go to the salon because I didn't want to pay for it after paying for a washing machine and a grooming for bro. It was the hardest thing ever. Especially my pinky toe, but I did it without the help of the 2 men that were in the room with me!
- Had a great weekend with dad and Andrew! We tried to meet President Bush at a book signing, but didn't have a wrist band (who knew)! We stomped around our property, had a relaxing afternoon and then went to the Hogs vs LSU game! We had great seats and an even better parking pass so that I didn't have to walk a lot (thanks to our amazing friends). To make the night super sweet, we.won. It was the first SEC win for our team in a while after a 17 SEC game losing streak, and the first for our coach Beilema. It makes it so sweet that it was the LSU game because going to this game is a family tradition! Ah, good night. (Also, it was freezing.)
- I started drinking raspberry leaf tea. We shall see if it helps with getting labor started!
- Sweet girl is running.out.of.room.
- I've been having different twinges of pain. I don't know what they are or how to explain them, but they're different. It's not horribly painful so I'm not thinking they're contractions.
- Got the new washing machine and it's amazing!!!!
- I am doing everything imaginable to get this baby out. Everything. I'll leave it at that.
- Thought I was having contractions at 2am...it was just an upset stomach.
- We upgraded to a larger city trash can. I am so excited about it, it's ridiculous.
- Made 2 more onsies with Kaitlyn.
- I had some contractions Tuesday night. They didn't last...wah wah.
- appointment with Hinton
   - blood pressure was 120/70
   - heartrate was 145
   - at 2cm and still 75%
   - had my membranes stripped...yowza. As Jamie said "like carving out a pumpkin!" It's the process of pulling away the amniotic sack from the cervix to help start labor. (I've felt mostly cramps since then and a couple of contractions.)
   - we are getting induced on Friday morning!!!!
- We vacuumed one more time.
- Andrew went to a basketball game with Seth and I went to the Duffield's.

After getting the news about the induction, I kind of went overboard on belly pics. It was my last chance to take them...geez!

Before Baby Brain Dump

The time is coming for my sweet girl to come into this world. Like, we are in the single digits. I never thought I'd be here! During these last few weeks, my brain has been racing with some rational and some irrational thoughts. Add these crazy ideas to my constant need to nest and you have a MAD WOMAN!

Here's what has been on my mind lately:

- Andrew gave me sweet snuggles one night and said, "I feel like I will lose a little part of you." It made me sad, and I cried but didn't let him see. I know that Claire will change some things, but I hope that we do a good job of bringing her into our already existing relationship. A relationship that has been JUST OURS for almost 9 years! Sometimes I just want to look at him. He still melts me.
- My overwhelming feeling to meet (my own) expectations. I know a lot of people with babies. We have a lot of ideas of how we want things to go with our daughter. I hope that I can realize that we are our own family. We will have to modify and adjust to what is right for us. I don't want to beat myself up over something that is OK to not succeed at. (My biggest thing is the desire to breastfeed. I really want that to go well!!)
- I'm starting to feel overwhelmed about not knowing when she will come. I've never been one for surprises. I go to bed every night wondering if it's "the night". I also pray every night for a good nights rest or at least a good nap if she does decide to come. I pray for a healthy and safe delivery and baby. I thank the Lord for the most amazing 9 months of my entire life so far.
- I am also a control freak. I feel like that sentence needed to be typed. I am so worried about other people sharing the fact that she's been born that I really let it bother me! I just think it's so tacky when other people announce any form of big news via social media before the people that are different effected. There are certain pics that I would love to have from the delivery room that I've stressed Andrew out about it...among many MANY other things! I just need to LET. IT. GO.
- Missing her once she's not in my belly anymore. This is where the crazy kicks in. I think I might be the only pregnant person on the planet that might prefer to stay pregnant. I looooooooove it. Selfishly, I like the fact that I'm the only person that knows her other than God. I know (generally) what she's doing and what makes her wiggle. I know when she has the hiccups and when she's trying to stretch out. I know she's safe. I will absolutely miss not having her with me 100% of the time, but I know that having her in my arms will be 1000x better!!! If I love her this much in the womb, I can't even begin to think about what I will feel when I see her for the first time. I'm crying thinking about it.
- Anal about others holding her and germs... Let's talk about flu season. That's when my kid is coming. If I tell you to sanitize before you hold her, just do it. Also, if I don't let you hold her, just go ahead and call me the crazy first time mom.
- I want her to be a friendly baby. Once I get over the germaphobic what-not, I actually want other people to hold my kid. I want her to be well adjusted and pleasant to be around!
- Is induction right? Am I selfish in asking to be induced? (more on this topic to come)

There have been plenty of other things on my mind as well. I have cleaned and/or straightened up every day. There is no laundry to do. The dishes are washed. All of her stuff is cleaned or washed. Brody is clean and brushed. Bags are packed. Christmas is up. We are as ready as we will ever be!

38 Weeks

- 38 weeks on 11/13/14
- Matt and Kristi came to town for the Neldon's wedding.
- Went to the NWA boutique show with Kristi, Kaitlyn and Harlow. I got Claire some leg warmers and a newborn Christmas hat for some pictures.
- Had dinner with the Tarvin's. Andrew met Andrew through law school and an internship in LR and then they were in our birthing class. They were the only couple in there expecting a boy! It was great to see them again and catch up.
- Enjoyed one of our last Saturday's just sleeping in and doing whatever.
- Her pack-n-play is up and in our room.
- Mine and Andrew's bag is basically packed except for the things that we might need up until she decides to join us.
- One weird thing I've done is send in any and all "product registration for safety alert and recall" forms that have come attached to her equipment. Safety first.
- Had dinner at JJs with Matt and Kristi and some church friends. It was a great meal, but a long night of swelling and stomach probs. I thought it was labor, but turns out I just really needed to use the restroom at 1:30 am
- I made Kristi measure my belly. Measured at 38 weeks.
- Andrew and I went to Walmart to do our "last trip before baby". I'm so glad he went with me because I couldn't push the buggie!
- Mom came to help me clean and put up Christmas. It took A LOT longer than planned! We didn't quite get everything done.
- It's tough putting up Christmas decorations when you're 38 weeks along...
- Had Stonemill with mom, Jamie and Millie. Let's talk about how adorable that baby is! Afterward mom and I did a little shopping.
- Our washing machine BROKE!!!! Like, stopped spinning and therefore left items soaking wet. Obviously we had to buy a new one. It will take a week to get here...sweet.
- Had a prenatal massage! I recommend that anyone wait until 37 weeks or after to go because she was able to actually do some great kneading on my back! It was wonderful!
- Took some laundry to the laundromat with mom. That's an experience!
- Weekly appointment with Dr. Duke (he is adorable-our first time to meet him).
   - still at 1 cm
   - 75% effaced!
   - I've gradually lost my mucus plug which explains the intense discharge. I did wipe away something (twice) that actually looked like a plug the day after the appointment.
   - She is becoming more engaged and is at a -3 station.
   - My cervix is still posterior (will become anterior for delivery).
   - Belly is measuring 38 weeks, he says to expect an 8lb baby. He also said that my pelvis is fine to delivery an 8lb baby.
   - blood pressure was 120/78
   - her heartrate was in the 140's.
   - This exam was more painful than the others, and I had some spotting afterward.
- The house is clean! (I'm sure I'll vacuum everyday until she comes.)
- Andrew left town for the night to do an orientation for newly licensed attorneys.
- Dad came to stay with me and spend the weekend.
- I've had some period cramp like feelings and still pressure in my cervix.
- I had the craziest nose bleed! It lasted at least 5 minutes and there was seriously blood everywhere. I'm guessing it's from the temps getting so cold.

37 Weeks

- 37 weeks on 11/6
- Subbed for the last time on Halloween...in PE...
- Had a few more contractions on Friday that were pretty close together. They lasted about an hour or so and then went away.
- Watched Fury.
- Had crepes and a burrito from the food trucks in Bentonville! Finally!
- Watched the very sad Mississippi State game at the Duffield's.
- Claire got her first ever mail! It was inchbug bands from Meme and Poppi. The best part is that Andrew got the mail, brought it to me and said, "how cute is this?" Pointing to her name on the envelope.
- A couple of people have told me that they can tell she looks lower.
- We had dinner with our deacon family group from church.
- For the first time ever during this pregnancy, I had a completely random craving and had to go to Walgreens right then to get it...Cheerios.
- Weekly exam with Dr. Seale
   - blood pressure: 120/70
   - heart rate was 141
   - 1 cm and 40% effaced
- Walking, bouncing, resting, cleaning and eating...that's what I'm doing!
- Made the next 3 weeks' menu
- Started making our 2014 photo book to order after Christmas. It's been so fun to think back on how exciting this year has been!

36 Weeks

36 weeks:
- 36 weeks on 10/30/14
- I just noticed this week how pale I'm looking. Bless.
- Doug and Cherri came for one last weekend before they are officially "Lolly and Papa" in our house!
- I got to spend some more time with the Willard girls.
- My feet and hands did the worst swelling BY FAR on Saturday! I had a really delicious, but salty meal Friday night and it was really warm. I was painfully puffy!
- We tried a new restaurant called Wood Stone and it was amazing!
- Got our maternity pics back and they confirmed that it was the best $ ever spent.
- Church had trunk or treat and bonfire night.
- We drove around to look at all the changing trees and went up to Mt Sequoyah.
- Waking up at night nauseous
- A lot of pain and discomfort on Monday! Mostly back pain and a few camp like sensations. Several sharp pains in the pelvis/cervix. I did a lot of straight up sitting while subbing and typing for the school secretary. I used a heated pad and soaked in the tub for a while and that helped.
- Can I get an Amen for the exercise ball! The bouncing and the poster is awesome, and it doesn't hurt that it's a technique to get this baby moving. :)
- We had our last night at birthing class. I think (hope) we are as prepared as we can be!
- We closed on our land on Wednesday!!! It will still be 3ish years before we start building on it, but we love it and look forward to paying it off before building our next home!
- Had my first weekly exam!
   - blood pressure: 120/60
   - anemic test: 13.3 (they said that was perfect)
   - Her heart rate was 145
   - Her back is up! Booty is to the left and feet to the right. Head is still down.
   - 30% effaced
   - Not dilated and cervix is closed.
- I voted!
- Went to meet Kross Seward (Claire's friend closest in age) and she is perfect!
- Had a pretty eventful Thursday evening as far as strong(er) discomforts. I hate to say to contraction because I don't want to get my hopes up, but it was something new!
- Dinner with the Devenports.
- All of her laundry is finished. All necessary items have been purchased.
- I made the lists for our hospital bags and soon I will pack them.

(Property owners! No big.)

35 Weeks

- 35 weeks on 10/23/14
- 35(ish) days to go!
- Went to Local Flavor in Eureka Springs! It was something on our "bucket list". It was well worth the 1.5 hour wait (that's a big deal for me to say). Andrew got the pork tenderloin and I got the pan seared tilapia. We both enjoyed a salad with garlic Parmesan dressing and ordered baked fudge with ice cream for dessert. To. Die. For. The only problem is that we weren't finished eating until close to 10. When we got home and went to bed my heartburn/acid reflux erupted. I'm currently up at 3:45am typing this because I'm too uncomfortable to sleep...still worth it!
- Tailgated at the Carter's for the UofA vs. Georgia game. We ordered pizza and roasted s'mores after the game. I was up with allergies all night. I'm totally prepared to be up all night with my girl now...right?
- Went to Rhea Lana's (again). I got a winter sweater, keds, car seat pad, changing pad liners, Madela bottles with nipples, 12month shoes, and a dress for $35.
- We had maternity/family pics made with Kelsey Tice! I can't wait to see them!
- She's doing this new thing where she really nestles down into my pelvis. She gets super squirmy and there's a lot of pressure for about a minute and then she gets cozy and stops.
- Insomnia. That's all I need to say.
- We had an appointment with Dr. Hinton! Haven't seen her in a looooong time and I've missed her (because she's awesome)!
- Claire's heart rate was 150/151.
- My belly is measuring right on track.
- I have a bad yeast infection and have to take an antibiotic. TMI..
- She is for sure head down!
- Direct quote from Dr, "I think this baby is just fine to come whenever she is ready!" How am I already to the point where the doc can say that?!
- I've had some uncomfortable back pain and cramping. Nothing major and nothing consistent.
- At birthing class this week, we learned about various interventions (both necessary and unnecessary) during labor and delivery. We got down on a mat and practiced positions, breathing, relaxation and ways that Andrew can help during the process.
- Andrew was on the news while he was voting. Super star!
- Subbed in the office and in first grade this week.
- Walked Bro to the local dog park. Andrew estimated that it's a little over 1 mile to get there and back. It took me the same amount of time to walk back to the house as it took Andrew to drive home from work across town...I'm walking, that's all that matters.
- Brody is shedding way more now than he was this summer. I vacuum twice a week! Does he not know that I'm about to bring a newborn home?
- Andrew and I were talking about extra weight. He said, "are you ### yet?" I had to respond, "babe, I'm that plus 10." He laughed. It was basically a slap in the face.
- We had the friends over for pancake night.

34 Weeks

34 weeks on 10/16/14
- 42 is days to go!
- Saw Mary AND Megan in the same weekend!
- Made $85 in a garage sale with mom. Holla.
- Andrew went to Boston with Tim, John, Dillon and Zach.
- Subbed in 3rd grade
- Started birthing class! It's a washington regional. A labor and delivery nurse/lactation consultant teaches it. There were 8 couples in there ranging from 27-35 weeks. Everyone is having girls, but 1 couple! We really enjoyed what we already learned and are seriously excited for the next 2 sessions!
- Went to Hobby Lobby with Kaitlyn to get fabric choices to make our own onsies!
- Past 2 nights I have felt incredibly nauseous.
- Made 3 onsies and had a fabulous day with Kait, Les and the girls! I reeeeaaaally want a sewing machine.
- We put together her swing. It's huge in our tiny living room.
- I washed the rest of her blankets, bibs and burp clothes as well as her sheets and mattress pad.
- Went to the gym in the first time in who knows how long...walked at about a 2.8 for a mile (slow as molasses) and then did a 14 minute third trimester Pilates workout. It felt just right to be doing with this big belly.
- Celebrated Blake's birthday!

33 Weeks

This sloppy chalk board was whipped together at 33 weeks and 4 days. Better late than never!

33 weeks
- We went to Colin and Leslie's wedding.
- We took Blake and Seth out to the property and we actually tromped around. It's so wonderfully perfect! We figured it to be about 7 minutes from our current house.
- Let's talk about how hot I am. (It's really hot-all.the.time.)
- While my hands and feet are still swelling, I am happy that my legs and face still pretty much look the same and I am still under my "total weight gain" goal.
- Braxton Hicks are starting to get a little "painful" rather than just uncomfortable. It helps to sit or lay on my left side. That's one step closer to baby time! :))))))
-I either had contractions or stomach bug between 2:00 and 3:30 on Sunday. It was either contractions or my stomach was doing something strange. It hurt at the top of my belly and would sometimes gradually move down to a pinch. They would last for less than 30 seconds.  < stomach bug and Braxton hicks. I did have to leave a classroom I was subbing in early because I was so uncomfortable.
- Had my doc appointment with Sr Bailey. He said that any uncomfortable feelings are just normal. I am to call if they are ever super painful, 5 minutes apart for an hour.
- Claire's heartbeat was nice and loud and strong! Doc said that she is measuring just right. He said I'm having an A+ pregnancy!
- I've gained 18 pounds.
- I start going to the doc every 2 weeks now! Cra-zy!!!
- Drove to Russellville to spend some quality time with my mama and daddy while Andrew is in Boston with his bros.
- This week has been filled with lots of new movements, jabs and pains. A LOT of pressure in the cervix area, my feet really start to hurt by the end of the day, and just general difficulty doing simple things. I can't believe I almost have a full term baby hanging out inside of me!
- Got my flu shot (the best shot I've ever gotten!)

32 Weeks

(There are actually only 54 days left from when I took this picture, but who's counting…)

- I've started feeling her kicking my ribs. Sometimes she pushes on my ribs and what feels like my hip bone at the same time. It's amazing and painful all at once. I seriously love it. I still make a big deal every time she moves.
- Walked with the girls and Brody.
- Discovered the Deal Depot in Springdale!! For $112 I got: ergo infant insert, britax car seat base, Aden and Anias crib sheet, changing pad cover, changing pad liners, Mustela lotion, and Madela sterilizing bags!
- Had a super uncomfortable afternoon on Saturday. I was kind if hot, ate a lot of food (I think), and just finished a busy week. I think Claire had had e-nough!
- I'm kind of over the whole "my house has to look perfect for company" phase. Judge us for living if you must!
- Devastating news: Green Submarine is closed on Sundays (when I most wanted it)! < I got one on Tuesday. Score.
- We made an offer on some property in Fayetteville/Farmington, and we got it!!!! It's a perfect 1.26 acre lot in an area that seems "country" but it's in a subdivision. We don't plan on rushing into building. We want to take our time to pay off the lot and then work on building when Claire is a little older.
- I started "babywise" and I'm really excited about the book and the methods. So far, I've read about making sure that we bring Claire into our already existing relationship and show her our commitment for each other, rather than a brand new world that centers only around her. I know it will probably be tough, but Andrew and I went to a conference a few years ago where we learned that no matter what, we need to out each other first.
- Subbed in 3rd, the office and kindergarten this week. I'm ti-red.
- I cannot fit into my Toms. Like, at all.

Standing on our new property!!!

Friends + Family Shower

On September 20th, I had the most wonderful shower at our church here in Fayetteville! It was a brunch shower hosted by friends. I was BLOWN A-WAY by all of the people who came to celebrate baby Claire or sent a gift our way! We are so extremely blessed to know the best people on the planet. Andrew and I are now almost 100% "ready" for our little turkey because of the generosity of others.
